My niece Prema's 8th birthday was last week. Kid's birthdays are so much more fun than adults.

How can she be so big? She looks like 10. But I guess 8 is pretty close to 10. Anyway...I remember when I was 8 I got a belt with a canteen and binoculars and other hiking gear that 8 year olds cannot spell correctly. I loved it. Also, I think that was the year Grandma Laura died. Sorry to post that, it doesn't really fit the motif of "happy" that is generally implied by the phrase, "happy birthday."
